About Intertwined & Conscious
The surrounding environment impacts all elements in nature – just as a storm affects an ecosystem, belief systems instilled in society affect the development of female identity.
This exhibition features three New York based female artists: Alta Buden, Brittany Knapp, and Negin Sharifzadeh. The experiences of these 3 women help make sense of what it means to be a conscious being operating within the constructs of the perceived world.
Ecofeminism is a concept that originated in the 1970’s that investigates the connection between historic and ongoing damage to the environment and the oppression of women, a theme that permeates across the work of our artists in philosophy, as well as medium and process.
